And things from our past that has been long forgotten. Call me an environmental pack rat! I can’t bear to see anything thrown away that could otherwise be used in some other way.
I’ll list my treasures as they are found and show you how I have repurposed, recycled or reused the items into some cool creations.rosiemoonbeamshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17210026274991603029noreply@blogger.comBlogger68125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8637813947697253720.post-67440613200872794322012-02-20T14:15:00.001-07:002012-02-20T14:15:12.729-07:00<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I've decided to change what I am selling on Etsy. Instead of random vintage items I am going back to selling vintage clothes along with some of my own handmade vintage designs. I am not new at selling vintage clothing, I worked at a large vintage clothing and costume shop in Denver about 11 years ago. After that I started selling clothing and vintage clothing on Ebay for a couple of years. Below are a few of my past items sold. Visit <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/rosiemoonbeams?section_id=10816923" target="_blank">Rosiemoonbeams</a> shop for recently listed vintage clothing.<br />

<br /><span style="font-size:100%;"> As summers end is near, here I am already thinking about Halloween and scary, spooky, haunted and forbidden things, so I created this <a href="http://www.etsy.com/treasury/NTA4MDg2OXw1NzgwMjIzNTc/scary-spooky-haunted-and-forbidden">Etsy Treasury</a>.
<br />Some of the items I chose to showcase: </span><span style="font-size:100%;">antique coffin circa 1900s, haunted house, </span><span style="font-size:100%;"> antique macabre embalming book, creepy old baby doll and a vintage photo of a scary woman.</span>

<br />Here are some of my other Etsy Treasuries - <a href="http://www.etsy.com/treasury/NTA4MDg2OXw1MTQ2NjU2NzY/oddities?index=2">Oddities</a> , <a href="http://www.etsy.com/treasury/NTA4MDg2OXw1MjUzODI2NjM/bittersweet?index=1">Bittersweet</a> and

I guess in an attempt to make it look shabby chic someone had painted it white using only one coat of paint.<br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/TKEeQ_0qyzI/AAAAAAAABZk/Tn4WpXFU1WA/s1600/found+headboard.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/TKEeQ_0qyzI/AAAAAAAABZk/Tn4WpXFU1WA/s400/found+headboard.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5521727895492021042" border="0" /></a> There was already hangers on the back so it could be hung behind any bed easily. But since my bed already had a headboard that matched the rest of the bedroom furniture I knew I would have to get creative to find a use for it. After looking around the house for a place I found out that it was the same length as my desk in my workspace. I have a huge old oak office desk where I have my computer, scanner, drawing tablet and stereo.<br /><br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/TKEeRJPqGOI/AAAAAAAABZs/Ul-wgEGsuoQ/s1600/found+headboard1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/TKEeRJPqGOI/AAAAAAAABZs/Ul-wgEGsuoQ/s400/found+headboard1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5521727898021140706" border="0" /></a>I paint the headboard purple with a semi-gloss enamel. I had to change the hanging brackets to line up with where the studs were. And with the help of my son we hung it behind the desk creating a panel wall look and a small shelf to display photos, art work and found objects.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/TKEeRSwBkSI/AAAAAAAABZ0/YApv2vGKz6Q/s1600/found+headboard+painted.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/TKEeRSwBkSI/AAAAAAAABZ0/YApv2vGKz6Q/s400/found+headboard+painted.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5521727900572815650" border="0" /></a>I love how it turned out!<br /></div><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhg0JOgQXeeFLi824uEiioSBZRx3mUoE9D0FNR6XQ3af4RlGsiAMANcrx8gDUXv9Yzf8ZOsexradCEROCEhvdOb4CDmDAtGeWAvMWVxxK6WGlfaaq_S2jXiqfqV9W9-GKouoT7q7dWh/s1600/found+headboard+painted1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhg0JOgQXeeFLi824uEiioSBZRx3mUoE9D0FNR6XQ3af4RlGsiAMANcrx8gDUXv9Yzf8ZOsexradCEROCEhvdOb4CDmDAtGeWAvMWVxxK6WGlfaaq_S2jXiqfqV9W9-GKouoT7q7dWh/s400/found+headboard+painted1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5521727905711575666" border="0" /></a>rosiemoonbeamshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17210026274991603029noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8637813947697253720.post-70044879358204036852010-02-12T16:28:00.001-07:002010-02-13T20:32:02.179-07:00The Key to My Heart Resin Pendant and Vintage Jewelry Necklaces<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/S3XVy0dB0FI/AAAAAAAABUg/J1oy-T84mZc/s1600-h/keytomyheart3.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/S3XVy0dB0FI/AAAAAAAABUg/J1oy-T84mZc/s400/keytomyheart3.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5437487194170314834" border="0" /></a> I wanted to make something special for Valentine's Day so I started looking through all my treasures. Some people might call it junk! Since I get my inspiration by looking at items grouped together laying on my work table I started pulling out pieces of vintage jewelry and anything that was red. I decided to make some necklaces combining the pieces of vintage jewelry. I also came across a group of old keys, not skeleton keys but just regular old small keys. I knew these would not work with the vintage jewelry but I wanted to use them somehow. Then I remembered during a resin making fest, I had made some resin hearts cast from a mold. I dug them out and decided that I could attach them to the key and the best part is that the key acts as the bail for the necklaces.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/S3XUZzT3HII/AAAAAAAABTo/-ExybsR8Y-A/s1600-h/black+white+heart.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/S3XUZzT3HII/AAAAAAAABTo/-ExybsR8Y-A/s400/black+white+heart.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5437485664855071874" border="0" /></a>For the necklaces I used a vintage black Bakelite heart charm, a vintage mother of pearl heart charm and watch fob along with vintage and new chain.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/S3XXjGGWoZI/AAAAAAAABU4/07Ucih--MuM/s1600-h/black+white+heart1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/S3XXjGGWoZI/AAAAAAAABU4/07Ucih--MuM/s400/black+white+heart1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5437489123052396946" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/S3XU4Uec0zI/AAAAAAAABUA/geuOWsNe0gc/s1600-h/memory+necklace1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/S3XU4Uec0zI/AAAAAAAABUA/geuOWsNe0gc/s400/memory+necklace1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5437486189153932082" border="0" /></a>For this one I used a collection of old charms, a little round locket, a framed vintage photo of a stranger and a vintage key attached to a vintage necklace. The kind where each letter is separate and you add them to the holder, so you can make any word to stamp. All the gifts got made even though there is never enough time. Every year I say to myself that I am going to start early. And every year I wait to the last minute. Here are some of the gifts I made this year. A couple of months ago I had come across some Liquitex glossies glass paints that someone had thrown out and I already had plenty of white tiles. (People are always throwing out thier extra tiles from remodeling projects.) So I decided to make coaster sets. The first 2 sets I made using a 2 part tree stencil in a two shades of green and then finishing off the sides with paint and gluing cork (also found) on the bottoms.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Sz_R5ooKqNI/AAAAAAAABOw/OUnrMifzCo8/s1600-h/tile+coasters.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Sz_R5ooKqNI/AAAAAAAABOw/OUnrMifzCo8/s400/tile+coasters.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5422283264466004178" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Sz_R5_5B5vI/AAAAAAAABO4/jrsmH9CEaG4/s1600-h/tile+coasters1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Sz_R5_5B5vI/AAAAAAAABO4/jrsmH9CEaG4/s400/tile+coasters1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5422283270710748914" border="0" /></a>For packaging I used corrugated cardboard to wrap the coasters and finished off with raffia.<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Sz_R6V-OHcI/AAAAAAAABPA/5e2-hdAEMPs/s1600-h/tile+coasters2.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Sz_R6V-OHcI/AAAAAAAABPA/5e2-hdAEMPs/s400/tile+coasters2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5422283276638100930" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Sz_R6djoK7I/AAAAAAAABPI/JWfAJ8U3dvw/s1600-h/tile+coasters3.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Sz_R6djoK7I/AAAAAAAABPI/JWfAJ8U3dvw/s400/tile+coasters3.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5422283278674045874" border="0" /></a><br /> I thought I had taken photos of my other finished coasters but being in such a rush I must have forgotten. It's nothing new! At Thanksgiving time four of my five boys were here and I totally forgot to take photos, but made up for it at Christmas!<br />Anyway the other coasters I made turned out even better. I painted Ginkgo leaves and stamped swirls on one set and the last two sets were done in purple and gold in a moon motif. I will have to take pictures when I go over to my sister's house next time.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Sz_XPcSCFKI/AAAAAAAABPY/x9l6Ujax_J4/s1600-h/leather+pouches.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Sz_XPcSCFKI/AAAAAAAABPY/x9l6Ujax_J4/s400/leather+pouches.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5422289136667202722" border="0" /></a> Here is another project I made using leather from a sample book that was thrown away. I cut 6" circles, punched holes around the edges threading leather lacing through the holes which was pulled and tied to make a <span style="font-style: italic;">"Special Treasure Pouch". </span>These tiny little pouches are perfect for holding small found treasures like seashells or rocks.<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzXIL8MP6rRfT91ZCPZ_U7bMeSWPmS2ZKrxMZSiseqi5QMxSU_kTEm6xsFLHCuz75nPFyIahvRdRw-N61A0rteLhAwMBoIO5VHqMlC01V4isSiCWyR6bLzkQp8yFiXUuN6uPHqW0oD/s1600-h/leather+pouches1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzXIL8MP6rRfT91ZCPZ_U7bMeSWPmS2ZKrxMZSiseqi5QMxSU_kTEm6xsFLHCuz75nPFyIahvRdRw-N61A0rteLhAwMBoIO5VHqMlC01V4isSiCWyR6bLzkQp8yFiXUuN6uPHqW0oD/s400/leather+pouches1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5422289130387815362" border="0" /></a> I also made custom t-shirts for all the guys. Plus... Bat Brew a Free Halloween Label to Print<div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/StZRMV3sJ1I/AAAAAAAABOM/t47jFUkaZc4/s1600-h/halloweenlabels.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/StZRMV3sJ1I/AAAAAAAABOM/t47jFUkaZc4/s400/halloweenlabels.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5392586876293752658" border="0" /></a><br /></div> I used the words wicked, boo and bad luck in rub-ons to put on glass bottles. A skull rub-on was applied to a thrift store trophy. The Rub ons are the kind you would use in scrap-booking. This was a very easy project and only took minutes to do. Tape the rub-on onto the bottle securing down the edges so that it does not slip. Using a craft stick rub hard until the design is adhered to the glass.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/StZRMLKxCyI/AAAAAAAABOE/w2aPWnt6yIo/s1600-h/halloweenlabels1.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/StZRMLKxCyI/AAAAAAAABOE/w2aPWnt6yIo/s400/halloweenlabels1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5392586873420974882" border="0" /></a><br /> The Bat Brew Label is another project, one I designed in Photoshop. Well with school starting, this year we decided to home school with an online state school. So we all had to get use to the new daily routine. He loves it so far. And then there's putting the garden to bed for the winter. It always seems to come so fast sometimes. It's been cold and we received our first snow this weekend. Now with Halloween only weeks away, it seems like Christmas is just around the corner. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and I have so much fun decorating for the occasion. Check out some of my <a href="http://rosiemoonbeams.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html">Halloween ideas from last year</a>.<img src="file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/ROBINH%7E1/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot.png" alt="" /><br />I have just started a <a href="http://www.artfire.com/users/Rosiemoonbeams">store at Artfire</a>. I have been listing some vintage Halloween costumes and handmade Halloween Decor. These Clown costumes can be happy or evil, depending on your makeup or mask. And the skull tassels below are great to decorate with. Tie back your curtains, hang on a door knob, put one one a bottle of wine for a spooky chic hostess gift.<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Ss0XeOULcrI/AAAAAAAABME/DsMg430-iAE/s1600-h/blackclown.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; And I would love to find other women in Denver that would be interested in holding an occasional flea market like <a href="http://www.frenchfleamarketofanoka.com/">The French Flea Market</a> held in Anoka MN. They are open every second Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the month. And they showcase several talented women like Lanette from <a href="http://cottageelements.blogspot.com/">Cottage Elements</a> who have a keen eye for repurposing items, re-doing and putting it all together! They feature vintage chic, funky and one of a kind items. So if there are some talented women in Denver who might be interested in putting something like this together please contact me. <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/SlQLEzwJNDI/AAAAAAAABGs/7upa70URAno/s1600-h/rosiemoonbeamslogo.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 138px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/SlQLEzwJNDI/AAAAAAAABGs/7upa70URAno/s400/rosiemoonbeamslogo.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355918034089882674" border="0" /></a>rosiemoonbeamshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17210026274991603029noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8637813947697253720.post-33254336836175366512009-06-04T15:21:00.008-06:002009-06-04T22:43:53.591-06:00Hidden Treasures Behind the DoorSome of the things I like to look for when my husband and I go out junking in the alleys is vintage door hardware. We usually have to remove the hardware from the doors. Most of the time the doors are solid 4 or 5 paneled wood doors so we bring the whole thing home and take the door knobs, plates and locks off there. I have also used 4 wooden doors to line the wall behind my vintage fireplace bar giving it an old world look. When I've collected several sets of the hardware and have a nice grouping I then list them on Ebay. Here are some pieces that I’ve sold in the past.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Siig4wZcIUI/AAAAAAAAA4Y/SG3_M3gBTjg/s1600-h/doorknobs3.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Siig4wZcIUI/AAAAAAAAA4Y/SG3_M3gBTjg/s400/doorknobs3.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5343697854799814978" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Siig4oyx9zI/AAAAAAAAA4Q/rHkge1i2-Sk/s1600-h/doorknobs.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Siig4oyx9zI/AAAAAAAAA4Q/rHkge1i2-Sk/s400/doorknobs.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5343697852758619954" border="0" /></a><br />So yesterday when were going down an alley we stopped when we saw an old door peeking out from behind a sheet of dry wall that had been rained on. Behind the rain warped dry wall there was an old door beyond repair, but my husband found this wonderful large old mirror that was hidden and protected from the weather.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Siig4XEmOOI/AAAAAAAAA4I/QblLDmRM4k0/s1600-h/castlemirror1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Siig4XEmOOI/AAAAAAAAA4I/QblLDmRM4k0/s400/castlemirror1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5343697848001509602" border="0" /></a>The mirror measures 45"wide x 55"tall and has a castle-like top to it. It would not fit on the fireplace mantle so I hung it at the end of the hall. After locating some hardware to hang it I attempted to hang it myself. It took me three tries of hanging and adjusting until I got the right height. Here it is hung on the wall, it's really hard to get a good picture of a mirror without getting yourself in it.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Siig4LOXHiI/AAAAAAAAA4A/4T88p9aTcP0/s1600-h/castlemirrorhung1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Siig4LOXHiI/AAAAAAAAA4A/4T88p9aTcP0/s400/castlemirrorhung1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5343697844821237282" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Siig4GEu_hI/AAAAAAAAA34/DKTV5DxTvoM/s1600-h/castlemirrorhung.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Siig4GEu_hI/AAAAAAAAA34/DKTV5DxTvoM/s400/castlemirrorhung.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5343697843438681618" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="font-family:arial;"><span style="font-family:georgia;"></span></span><br /><p><o:p></o:p></p>rosiemoonbeamshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17210026274991603029noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8637813947697253720.post-59498154664948301052009-05-10T16:44:00.007-06:002009-05-26T20:17:56.028-06:00Happy Mother's Day<div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/SgdZF_2CxbI/AAAAAAAAA1s/mlZRyBTE78w/s1600-h/momhawaii.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 325px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/SgdZF_2CxbI/AAAAAAAAA1s/mlZRyBTE78w/s400/momhawaii.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334330243215967666" border="0" /></a>Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there.<br />This photo of my mom was taken in the mid 50s in Hawaii a year before I was born.<br />I always thought that she was so beautiful.<br />Check out <a href="http://rosiemoonbeamsdreams.blogspot.com/2009/05/free-fairy-crown-for-your-moms-digital.html">the crown</a> I made for my mom and get your <a href="http://rosiemoonbeamsdreams.blogspot.com/2009/05/free-fairy-crown-for-your-moms-digital.html">free crown</a>.<br /><br /></div>rosiemoonbeamshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17210026274991603029noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8637813947697253720.post-66603794489107091432009-04-21T15:06:00.005-06:002009-04-25T17:11:56.751-06:00Vintage Supplies for mixed media, collage, scrapbooking, shadowboxes or just to add to your collection.<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Se42JuwjZyI/AAAAAAAAA1k/BTTOgvH9R5E/s1600-h/shabbychiccollection.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 394px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Se42JuwjZyI/AAAAAAAAA1k/BTTOgvH9R5E/s400/shabbychiccollection.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5327254950024275746" border="0" /></a><br />I thought it would be fun to create collections of vintage supplies to use for mixed media, collage, scrapbooking, shadowboxes or just to add to your collection.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Se41qllGxLI/AAAAAAAAA1c/d0TOTbVqImQ/s1600-h/vicvintagecollection.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 389px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Se41qllGxLI/AAAAAAAAA1c/d0TOTbVqImQ/s400/vicvintagecollection.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5327254414984398002" border="0" /></a>I have these for sale and will be listing more vintage supplies a couple of times a week. I have list these in my shop at <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5080869&section_id=5339958">Etsy. </a><!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]--> <!--[endif]--></span><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/SckhRiOJHEI/AAAAAAAAA0k/-6HsbNHvy6U/s1600-h/fabricgifttags3.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/SckhRiOJHEI/AAAAAAAAA0k/-6HsbNHvy6U/s400/fabricgifttags3.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5316817420215196738" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/SckhRSdin_I/AAAAAAAAA0c/R8x6d3JpiSs/s1600-h/fabricgifttags2.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 490px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/SckhRSdin_I/AAAAAAAAA0c/R8x6d3JpiSs/s400/fabricgifttags2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5316817415984816114" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9wO7LNRwhJDhPzO3UG3VuqdAcaocfwy582VtkxiK60_oo9DgzkoKvu0W4_7E63Esd8hOKReRG9RjsTkOLHih0qIEpgz84_iJRgWSaGbirsmzMPRVOIM-gCPI4D1CHzilBr9md5yL4/s1600-h/fabricgifttags4.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9wO7LNRwhJDhPzO3UG3VuqdAcaocfwy582VtkxiK60_oo9DgzkoKvu0W4_7E63Esd8hOKReRG9RjsTkOLHih0qIEpgz84_iJRgWSaGbirsmzMPRVOIM-gCPI4D1CHzilBr9md5yL4/s400/fabricgifttags4.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5316817420800196514" border="0" /></a>rosiemoonbeamshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17210026274991603029noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8637813947697253720.post-1920062345791393412009-03-13T14:25:00.009-06:002009-03-13T15:54:57.742-06:00Recycle an ordinary ceiling light - Faux Stained Glass<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4XlbXkM6sGD9W2tpJt_q2Fq72JuqvDyFeDDC1eweVKiprKkrXjV4DGcm5A6snS8onFrPdxYuKZDAbmoZA8RYFQnt2mXMZCK-dDEnT6lVZ67FS-q6urBO7i_K415MjWHRV5w_dVpko/s1600-h/glasslight1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4XlbXkM6sGD9W2tpJt_q2Fq72JuqvDyFeDDC1eweVKiprKkrXjV4DGcm5A6snS8onFrPdxYuKZDAbmoZA8RYFQnt2mXMZCK-dDEnT6lVZ67FS-q6urBO7i_K415MjWHRV5w_dVpko/s400/glasslight1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312775449419889762" border="0" /></a> The ceiling light shade in my bathroom was just your standard frosted glass shade. To give it an old world look I used gold colored glass to transform it. I had picked up some colored glass at a stained glass store where they sold scraps by the pound. Call around to see if any stained class store sells it that way. Otherwise buy a small sheet. Using a glass cutter I cut the glass into small squares.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/SbrEkOOoR9I/AAAAAAAAAz4/-_JDj0ZMtvU/s1600-h/glasslight2.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/SbrEkOOoR9I/AAAAAAAAAz4/-_JDj0ZMtvU/s400/glasslight2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312774837010712530" border="0" /></a>I glued the glass squares using a strong glue that dries clear. Make sure you leave a small space between the squares about an 1/8th". After the glue dried I used a charcoal color grout to fill in the gaps. Using a dark colored grout gave the whole project a stained glass look. I finished it off by adding a brass finial.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/SbrEjpFCGmI/AAAAAAAAAzo/xzXc8t1SGo0/s1600-h/glasslight.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/SbrEjpFCGmI/AAAAAAAAAzo/xzXc8t1SGo0/s400/glasslight.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312774827038349922" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000RYQWFQ?ie=UTF8&tag=rosiemoonbeam-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B000RYQWFQ">Mosaics with the Glass Guys</a><img src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=rosiemoonbeam-20&l=as2&o=1&a=B000RYQWFQ" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" />rosiemoonbeamshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17210026274991603029noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8637813947697253720.post-34166202647367602792009-03-09T22:18:00.005-06:002009-03-09T22:42:37.942-06:00She had many faces - The reclaiming of self!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/SbXqLF827nI/AAAAAAAAAzA/_yhqDuTaVik/s1600-h/manyfaces1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 277px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/SbXqLF827nI/AAAAAAAAAzA/_yhqDuTaVik/s400/manyfaces1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5311408811850264178" border="0" /></a><br />"She had many faces" - a project I did for a computer art class final. I repurposed a frame for the face along with a little drawer, a wooden spool, a box and a lid, a spindle and a stick for the body. To complete the multimedia body, Photoshop was used to create the inside, the sole of the piece.<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/SbXqLazLtkI/AAAAAAAAAzI/-7dVArzpWKo/s1600-h/manyfacessm.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 289px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/SbXqLazLtkI/AAAAAAAAAzI/-7dVArzpWKo/s400/manyfacessm.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5311408817446827586" border="0" /></a><br />I used my scanner to scan items that I wanted to use and working in Photoshop I used several layers to create a collage look. I use to live west of <st1:city><st1:place>Denver</st1:place></st1:city> at 9,000 ft and loved it. This little 4" x 4" shadow box collage expresses what the mountains mean to me. Simple and green!<br /> My future plan is to build a cob house up in the mountains. Cob is a method of building with clay, sand and straw. Houses have been built with cob in parts of <st1:country-region><st1:place>Britain</st1:place></st1:country-region> from the 15th century until industrialization and cheap transportation made brick the preferred building method, and was considered the norm. There is now a revival in North America that started in Oregon. The cob revival is still in the beginning stages as more cob homes are being built in diverse locations. There are cob-building schools where you can get hands on instruction and learn all the methods. No electric tools are used, so building with cob is like an old-fashioned barn raising, where friends and family of all ages can join in. I have put together some information on <a href="http://www.squidoo.com/cobhouse">cob building here</a> for easy reference.<br /><br /><iframe src="http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=rosiemoonbeam-20&o=1&p=13&l=st1&mode=books&search=cob%20building&fc1=000000<1=&lc1=3366FF&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" width="468" height="60" border="0" frameborder="0" style="border:none;" scrolling="no"></iframe>rosiemoonbeamshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17210026274991603029noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8637813947697253720.post-28914580919124079412009-02-26T17:09:00.003-07:002009-02-26T17:17:24.978-07:00Enjoy Free Days! It's been so nice this week here in Denver with temperatures in the 60's, that it's been hard to sit at the computer or to start any new repurposing projects. Especially after being cooped up inside last week with a cold, I just had to get outside. So Tuesday I took advantage of the free day at the Denver Zoo. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, it felt like spring. I took a lot of pictures of the animals, but this was my favorite shot. It looks like this bear was enjoying the spring-like day too.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Sacv_3qiwII/AAAAAAAAAv4/PpdtAg-G3pI/s1600-h/bear.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_iXwwIMfPQR0/Sacv_3qiwII/AAAAAAAAAv4/PpdtAg-G3pI/s400/bear.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5307263460200071298" border="0" /></a> If you live in the Denver area check out the<a href="http://denver.about.com/od/attractions/a/freedays09.htm"> free days</a> for the Denver Zoo, Denver Art Museum, Denver Museum of Nature and Science and the Denver Botanic Gardens. If you don't live in Denver then check out the free days for your city by searching (free days your city). With the economy the way it is every little bit helps.rosiemoonbeamshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17210026274991603029noreply@blogger.com1
